Spring Meeting!

Our Spring Meeting will be virtual this year via Zoom. It is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12 at 10 am. The agenda will include a guest speaker, election of officers, update on club activities and open discussion. See newsletter for details.

Every other Monday!

Sip and Share Social

We are meeting online every other Monday for now, conducting virtual meetings via Zoom. As restrictions lift, we plan to have additional activities.

Members will receive an email with Zoom meeting details.

Each session begins with a speaker who talks for about 10 minutes to present a topic, a personal or non-personal story, a recipe, a joke, a great resource or any topic of interest to share with the group.

Afterwards we will open up for questions, club updates, and/or continue socializing.

Wednesday, May 27, at 10am

Book Club

You are sheltering in place…We know you are reading, so why not add some critical thinking and socializing to your reading, and join the Newcomers Book Club?

The first Zoom book club event will be on Wednesday, May 27, at 10am. Betsy Seligson will be leading the discussion on “The Alice Network” by Kate Quinn.

The synopsis is: In an enthralling new historical novel, two women—a female spy recruited to the real-life Alice Network in France during World War I and an unconventional American socialite searching for her cousin in 1947—are brought together in a mesmerizing story of courage and redemption.

The novel is a “quick read” that follows the pattern of following two main characters and story lines in two different time periods. Yet with the events only about 40 years apart, the two female protagonists are intertwined in the post World War II events.

We're looking for more players on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 12:30!

Similar to the card game rummy, mahjongg is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation. It involves a degree of chance, and, as in most games, a good deal of luck in drawing good tiles to reach your goal.

We have an existing, experienced Mahjongg group, but we are looking to start a new group.
